YomaBarr Hahaa. I and a friend were at the Mystic Festival which is held in an old shipyard with its cranes, rails, shabby post-industrial buildings and stuff; we wondered if anything could be more metal and we agreed it could be an old disused coal mine. Enter The Moondig with their coal mine album...
Also, just last Tuesday I saw EWI in use by a band called Whalesong. There are no coincidences in this world.

ps. thanks, Moondig! Just what I needed.

about

Amidst the remnants of time, The Moondig embarked on an expedition to the old coal mine city of Beringen (B). In the shadow of the ancient mine, we delved into the heart of history, learning about old and almost forgotten mining techniques, from the old coal-miners that once ruled the Belgian Limburg underground.

Scaling the terril of Beringen-coalmine, we ascended to heights where the fossilized whispers from the past lingered in the breeze. Here, amidst the remnants of bygone eras, the spirits of Selenium, Bromine and Krypton revealed themselves as a silent witness to the passage of time.

As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a golden glow upon the landscape, we reflected on the journey that brought us here, on the heights of the earth, on top of the remnants of ancient forests.

In the quietude of an abandoned school building, we sought solace in musical recording creativity, channeling the essence of the elements Selenium, Bromine and Krypton into melodies that echoed through the corridors of time. With each chord struck and each melody played, we paid homage to the interconnectedness of all things, bridging the gap between science and art.

On this album we find ourselves drawn to the enigmatic allure of Selenium, a nonmetal with atomic number 34. In its silent embrace, we found inspiration and solace, knowing that amidst the vast expanse of the cosmos, we are all but stardust, connected by the threads of existence.

Named after the Moon itself, Selenium embodies the ethereal beauty and mystique of its celestial namesake. Within its hexagonal crystalline structure lies a spectrum of possibilities, illuminated by the gentle glow of moonlight. Liquid Selenium, with its remarkably high surface tension, mirrors the tranquility of a lunar oasis, beckoning us to delve deeper into its secrets.

As we traverse the lunar terrain, we uncover Selenium's pivotal role in the cosmic symphony of life. From its participation in antioxidant enzymes such as glutathione peroxidase, safeguarding against the ravages of oxidative stress, to its contribution to the conversion of thyroid hormones, Selenium emerges as a custodian of balance and harmony within the intricate machinery of existence.

Yet, like the phases of the Moon, Selenium reveals both light and shadow. Its photovoltaic prowess, converting light into electricity, holds promise for sustainable energy solutions amidst the lunar expanse.
In the delicate balance of its semiconductor nature, Selenium offers opportunities for innovation in optoelectronics and rectifiers, illuminating the path towards a brighter future for lunar exploration.

However, amidst the cosmic grandeur lies a cautionary tale. Just as an eclipse veils the radiance of the Moon, Selenium's toxicity looms ominously if taken in excess. The delicate equilibrium of its presence underscores the importance of prudent stewardship in our extraterrestrial endeavors.

In our quest to harness Selenium's potential, we confront the challenge of extraction from the lunar regolith. Through innovative techniques, akin to alchemy under the stars, we seek to isolate Selenium from its lunar confines, mindful of the delicate balance of lunar ecology. The yield of our lunar harvest, though uncertain, holds the promise of unlocking new frontiers in technology and wisdom.

As we envision our lunar base adorned with Selenium-infused glass, casting a warm bronze hue amidst the lunar landscape, we are reminded of the interconnectedness of art, science, music and philosophy. In Selenium's symphony, we find echoes of the eternal dance of creation, a testament to the boundless creativity of the cosmos.

And so, with reverence and wonder, in its silent embrace, we find solace amidst the vastness of space, united in our pursuit of knowledge and harmony under the watchful gaze of the Moon goddess Selene.
